Attica’s rapid development has created the misconception that few water and wind-powered installations existed in the region. Olga’s doctoral research aimed to identify, document, and map these structures, enriching the understanding of Attica’s technological history and cultural heritage.
Using historical maps, texts, images, and oral testimonies, the study analysed their distribution, uses, and significance. Fieldwork and documentation also recorded related place names and landmarks, concluding with proposals for preserving and promoting Attica’s pre-industrial technology.
